Kie AI Alternative: Pricing, Legit and Free Credits Compared

Looking for a Kie AI alternative? Compare kie.ai and reAPI prices for Seedance, Wan 3.0, GPT Image and Nano Banana, and see if Kie AI is legit or free.

At least one of the pages ranking for "Kie AI alternative" compares features but puts no prices in kie's column. This one starts from the prices. We pulled kie.ai's public rate card and reAPI's model pages on October 5, 2026, and lined up the same tiers for four model families: Seedance, Wan 3.0, GPT Image and Nano Banana[1][2].

The short version is that, comparing list prices, reAPI is lower on every tier checked except GPT Image 2, where the two match. The gap ranges from 7% on Wan 3.0 Prime to 73% on Nano Banana Pro at 4K. If you are weighing a Kie AI alternative for an image or video pipeline, the tables below show how much of that gap applies to your workload. reAPI is our product, so read the reAPI columns knowing the source, and check both rate cards again before you move a budget.

TL;DR

  • Biggest gaps are on images. Nano Banana Pro lists at $0.09 (1K/2K) and $0.12 (4K) on kie, against $0.030 and $0.033 on reAPI[1][8].
  • Seedance 2.5 and 2.0 are 15–25% lower on reAPI at list price, Fast and Mini 9–12% lower. reAPI's Eco tier cuts Seedance 2.5 1080p to $0.347/s against kie's $0.79/s[1][2][3].
  • GPT Image 2 is a tie at $0.03 / $0.05 / $0.08 per 1K / 2K / 4K image. GPT Image 2.5 on reAPI's Standard variant is one flat price at any size[1][4].
  • Wan 3.0 and Wan 3.0 Prime are 7–11% lower on reAPI at list price, and reAPI adds 2K and 4K tiers that kie's rate card does not list[1][7].
  • Neither platform charges for ordinary failed tasks on these models, so that is not a reason to switch either way[5][12].

Why developers look for a Kie AI alternative

kie.ai describes itself as one API for video, image, audio and LLM models, priced in credits worth $0.005 each, often below official model pricing[1][5]. Price is also what people search for: "kie ai pricing" and "kie api free" are among the most frequent autocomplete suggestions for the brand.

The other large group of searches is about trust and uptime: "is kie ai legit", "kie ai down", "kie ai outage". One example is a Reddit thread in r/n8n from February 2026, where a user running Sora 2 through kie for daily automated posting reported two periods of frequent 500 errors, each lasting a few days, with no public status notice[6]. That is one user's report, not a measurement, and we have no comparable uptime data for either platform to publish. What we can compare precisely is price, so that is what the rest of this article does.

Seedance prices on kie and reAPI

Seedance is billed per second of output on both platforms. The table uses kie's "no video input" rows and reAPI's text-and-image tiers, because jobs that upload a reference video are metered differently on each side and should be priced separately. kie's dollar figures are its credit price multiplied by $0.005[1].

Model and tierkie.aireAPIDifference
Seedance 2.5, 480p$0.140/s$0.119/s−15%
Seedance 2.5, 720p$0.315/s$0.267/s−15%

Seedance 2.0, 1080p$0.510/s$0.383/s−25%
Seedance 2.0, 4K$1.040/s$0.780/s−25%
Seedance 2.0 Fast, 480p$0.0585/s$0.053/s−9%
Seedance 2.0 Fast, 720p$0.124/s$0.113/s−9%

Seedance 2.0 Mini, 720p$0.041/s$0.036/s−12%

reAPI also sells Eco tiers that kie's rate card does not have. Seedance 2.5 Eco lists at $0.201/s for 720p and $0.347/s for 1080p, Seedance 2.0 Eco at $0.113/s, $0.281/s and $0.572/s for 720p, 1080p and 4K, and Seedance 2.0 Mini Eco at $0.021/s for 720p plus a 1080p tier at $0.051/s[2][3]. Against kie's 1080p Seedance 2.5 rate, the Eco tier is 56% lower. Eco is a separate tier, so test it on your own prompts before treating it as a drop-in for the standard tier.

For a concrete number: a 10-second 720p Seedance 2.5 clip from text costs $3.15 at kie's listed rate and about $2.67 at reAPI's[1][2].

Wan 3.0 and Wan 3.0 Prime

Model and tierkie.aireAPIDifference
Wan 3.0, 480p$0.040/s$0.036/s−10%
Wan 3.0, 720p$0.080/s$0.071/s−11%
Wan 3.0, 1080p$0.160/s$0.142/s−11%
Wan 3.0 Prime, 480p$0.061/s$0.057/s−7%
Wan 3.0 Prime, 720p$0.126/s$0.116/s−8%
Wan 3.0 Prime, 1080p$0.252/s$0.232/s−8%

kie's rate card lists Wan 3.0 and Wan 3.0 Prime from 480p to 1080p. reAPI's model pages add 2K and 4K tiers: $0.206/s and $0.237/s for Wan 3.0, $0.258/s and $0.286/s for Prime[1][7].

Wan 3.0 is the closest family in this comparison. A 10-second 1080p Wan 3.0 Prime clip is $2.52 at kie's listed rate and $2.32 at reAPI's, so the case for switching on Wan alone is thinner than on images or Seedance.

GPT Image 2 and GPT Image 2.5

Model and sizekie.aireAPIDifference
GPT Image 2, 1K$0.03$0.03same
GPT Image 2, 2K$0.05$0.05same
GPT Image 2, 4K$0.08$0.08same
GPT Image 2.5 Flare, 1K / 2K / 4K$0.03 / $0.05 / $0.08$0.023 at any size−23% / −54% / −71%
GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, 1K / 2K / 4K$0.03 / $0.05 / $0.08$0.025 at any size−17% / −50% / −69%

GPT Image 2 is priced identically per image on both platforms, so there is no price reason to move it[1][4]. GPT Image 2.5 is different. kie prices Flare and Sunburst by resolution, while reAPI's Standard variant charges one flat price per delivered image whatever size you request[4]. The larger your images, the wider the gap. reAPI also offers an Official variant of GPT Image 2.5 that bills by tokens instead; the comparison above is the Standard variant only.

Nano Banana Pro, Nano Banana 2 and Nano Banana 2 Lite

Model and sizekie.aireAPIDifference
Nano Banana Pro, 1K / 2K$0.09$0.030−67%
Nano Banana Pro, 4K$0.12$0.033−73%
Nano Banana 2, 1K$0.04$0.028−30%
Nano Banana 2, 2K$0.06$0.038−37%
Nano Banana 2, 4K$0.09$0.056−38%
Nano Banana 2 Lite$0.02$0.015−25%

The reAPI figures are the Default variant on each model page[8][9][10]. reAPI also lists an Official Google variant of Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2 at higher prices, for teams that want that specific path. Nano Banana Pro is the largest gap in this comparison: a batch of 1,000 4K images is $120 at kie's listed rate and $33 at reAPI's.

Moving requests from kie to reAPI

The two APIs follow the same pattern. kie creates a task with POST https://api.kie.ai/api/v1/jobs/createTask, returns results from GET /api/v1/jobs/recordInfo, and can call a webhook when the task finishes[11]. reAPI submits to POST https://reapi.ai/api/v1/videos/generations or /api/v1/images/generations, returns results from GET /api/v1/tasks/{id}, and accepts an optional webhook_url on every submission[12]. Both use a bearer key.

The real work is the request body. Field names and allowed values are defined per model on each platform, so map them one model at a time from the reAPI docs page for that model rather than assuming kie's parameter names carry over. A practical order:

  1. Start with the model where the price gap is largest for you, often Nano Banana Pro or Seedance.
  2. Run the same prompts on both platforms and compare outputs and cost before moving traffic.
  3. Keep kie as a fallback in your own code until the new path has run through a few days of real volume.

FAQ

Is Kie AI legit?

kie.ai publishes its pricing, API documentation and support channels, and says failed tasks are not charged[5]. Some users have publicly reported reliability problems, such as the multi-day runs of 500 errors on its Sora 2 API described in the r/n8n thread cited above[6]. Treat those as individual reports and test with your own traffic before committing.

Is Kie AI safe?

kie says it keeps generated images, videos and audio for 14 days and logs for 2 months, then deletes them permanently, so download anything you need to keep[5]. It also tells users to keep API keys out of client-side code and public repositories[11]. Neither statement is an independent security audit.

How much does Kie AI cost?

kie bills in credits valued at $0.005 each, with a different credit price per model and tier on its pricing page[1][5]. The tables above convert the credit prices for Seedance, Wan 3.0, GPT Image and Nano Banana into dollars and set them next to reAPI's list prices[1][2][3][4][7][8][9][10].

Is Kie AI free?

kie says new users get 80 free credits for testing, which is $0.40 at its credit value, and that credits do not expire[1][5]. After that it is pay-as-you-go. On reAPI, eligible new accounts may receive promotional test credits, with no card required[2].

Is Kie AI down?

We cannot see kie's live status from this article. kie says it monitors model availability and task performance around the clock and offers support through Discord and Telegram[5]. One user reported two periods of frequent 500 errors on its Sora 2 API, each lasting a few days[6]. If you need a second option ready, the comparison above shows which models cost less on reAPI.

What is Kie AI used for?

kie describes itself as one API for video, image, audio and language models, so developers can call several model families without integrating each provider separately[5]. Its public rate card had 524 priced rows on October 5, 2026. reAPI's catalog is smaller, so check that every model your pipeline uses is listed before planning a full move[1].

Does Kie AI have Seedance 2.0?

Yes. kie's rate card lists Seedance 2.0 at 480p, 720p, 1080p and 4K[1]. reAPI also offers Seedance 2.0, at 24–25% lower list prices on those four tiers[1][3].

Choosing a Kie AI alternative by model

The decision is per model, not per platform. If your volume is Nano Banana, GPT Image 2.5 at 2K or 4K, or Seedance at 1080p, reAPI's listed prices are substantially lower. If you mainly run Wan 3.0 or Seedance 2.0 Fast and Mini, the saving is 7–12%, and on GPT Image 2 the two are the same. Prices on both sides change, so treat this as a snapshot from October 5, 2026, and confirm on each model page before you switch. For most image and video pipelines we checked, though, reAPI is the lower-cost Kie AI alternative.
