Which Kling Model Should You Use? Every Version Compared

Kling 3.0, 3.0 Omni, 3.0 Turbo, O1, 2.6, and 2.5 Turbo compared on duration, resolution, audio, and references, plus which Kling model fits each job.

Kling's API currently lists six video models side by side: Kling 3.0 Turbo, Kling 3.0, Kling 3.0 Omni, Kling O1, Kling 2.6, and Kling 2.5 Turbo[1]. They are not a simple old-to-new ladder. Each Kling model has capabilities the others lack, so the right pick depends on whether you need multi-shot, audio, 4K, video references, or a voice.

Short answer: Kling 3.0 is the default Kling model for most new work, Kling 3.0 Omni is the one to use when you feed it video, and Kling 3.0 Turbo is the better-value option when you don't need 4K or first and last frames. The rest of this guide shows why, using only Kling's own capability map, and where the unreleased Kling 4.0 fits.

TL;DR

  • The newest generation is the Kling 3.0 family: 3.0, 3.0 Omni, and 3.0 Turbo, all 3–15 seconds[1].
  • Only Kling 3.0 and 3.0 Omni render 4K. Turbo, O1, 2.6, and 2.5 Turbo stop at 1080p[1].
  • Multi-shot generation exists only in the 3.0 family[1].
  • Video references are supported by Kling 3.0 Omni and Kling O1 only[1].
  • Kling 2.6 is the only model with human voice control in image-to-video[1].
  • Kling 4.0 is not released. Leaked settings show 30-second clips and up to 10 keyframes, but nothing is official[2].

The current Kling lineup at a glance

Here is every video model on Kling's API capability map, with Kling's own one-line description[1].

Kling 2.5 Turbokling-v2-5-turbo"Max creativity with exceptional value"

And here is what each Kling model can actually do. A check means Kling's capability map marks it as supported[1].

Two details in that table are easy to miss. Kling 3.0 Turbo supports image-to-video but not first and last frames together. And Kling 2.5 Turbo only takes fixed 5 or 10 second lengths.

Which Kling model fits each job

Multi-shot scenes with sound, or anything in 4K: Kling 3.0. It combines multi-shot, native audio, first and last frames, element control, and 4K, and it is the 3.0 model that also supports motion control. Only Omni matches that set, and Omni's extra is video references. If you don't know which Kling model to start with, start here. On reAPI it is Kling 3.0[3].

You have video you want the model to follow: Kling 3.0 Omni. Omni and O1 are the only two that accept video references. Omni adds multi-shot, native audio, and 4K on top, so O1 mostly makes sense if you already built around it.

Volume at 720p or 1080p: Kling 3.0 Turbo. Kling describes it as better value, and it keeps multi-shot and native audio. What you give up is 4K, element control, and the first-plus-last-frame mode. For social clips that start from a single image, that trade is usually fine. On reAPI it is Kling 3.0 Turbo[3].

A specific human voice: Kling 2.6. It is the only model the capability map marks for voice control in image-to-video. Everything else about 2.6 is behind the 3.0 family, so use it for that one job.

Copy movement from a reference video: Kling Motion Control. Motion transfer is marked on Kling 3.0 and Kling 2.6. On reAPI both versions sit under Kling Motion Control[3].

Kling 2.5 Turbo: I would only keep it for existing pipelines that depend on it. It has no audio, no multi-shot, and fixed clip lengths.

What's the latest version of Kling?

The latest released Kling model generation is 3.0. Kuaishou announced Video 3.0, Video 3.0 Omni, Image 3.0, and Image 3.0 Omni on February 5, 2026[4]. Kling's release notes then list Motion Control 3.0 on March 4, native 4K on April 23, and Kling 3.0 Turbo with an Omni upgrade on June 17, 2026[5].

Kling 4.0 is next, but it is not out. On September 24, 2026, leaked screenshots showed "VIDEO 4.0 Preview" and "VIDEO 4.0 Flash Preview" inside Kling's creator app, with 3–30 second clips, 720p and 1080p, and up to 10 keyframes. Kuaishou has not confirmed any of it. The full breakdown, with sources, is in Kling 4.0 release date: what's confirmed and what leaked[2].

Is Kling free, and what does it cost?

Kling's consumer app has a free Basic plan. Paid plans are advertised "from $6.99," and the plan comparison lists 1080p/4K video generation, watermark removal, and commercial use as paid benefits[6]. So you can try Kling for free, but not at full quality.

The API is a separate product and is paid per use. On reAPI, every Kling model is billed per second with pay-as-you-go credits and no subscription. Current rates are on each model page, which always shows the live price[3].

Where Kling 4.0 fits in the lineup

If the leak holds, Kling 4.0 changes the choice in two ways. Length stops being a reason to stitch clips, since the leaked settings allow 30 seconds and a 120-second experimental mode. And keyframes replace the first-and-last-frame limit with up to 10 frames[2].

It may not replace everything. The leaked Kling 4.0 settings list 720p and 1080p only, so Kling 3.0 would still be the 4K Kling model until that changes[2]. reAPI will add Kling 4.0 on the same endpoint as soon as it can be called; the Kling 4.0 page tracks it.

FAQ

Which Kling model is best?

For most new projects, Kling 3.0. It has multi-shot, native audio, first and last frames, element control, and 4K together; only Kling 3.0 Omni matches that set[1]. Pick Omni instead if you work from video references, and Turbo if you want better-value 720p or 1080p output.

What is the difference between Kling 3.0 and Kling 3.0 Omni?

Omni accepts video references and Kling 3.0 does not. Kling 3.0 supports motion control and Omni does not. Both do multi-shot, native audio, and 4K at 3–15 seconds[1].

Is Kling 3.0 Turbo worse than Kling 3.0?

It does less, not necessarily worse. Turbo drops 4K, element control, and the first-plus-last-frame mode, and keeps multi-shot and native audio at 720p and 1080p[1]. Kling positions it as the better-value option.

Which Kling models generate audio?

Kling 3.0, 3.0 Omni, 3.0 Turbo, and 2.6. Kling O1 and 2.5 Turbo do not[1].

What is the longest video a Kling model can make?

15 seconds per request, from any model in the 3.0 family[1]. The leaked Kling 4.0 settings go to 30 seconds, with an experimental 120-second mode, but that model is not released[2].

Is Kling AI free?

The Kling app has a free Basic plan, with 1080p/4K generation reserved for paid plans[6]. API access is paid per use.

Is Kling O1 still worth using?

Only if you rely on its video references and don't need audio. Kling 3.0 Omni also takes video references and adds audio, multi-shot, and 4K[1].

Picking a Kling model today

Start with Kling 3.0. Move to Kling 3.0 Omni when your input is video, to Kling 3.0 Turbo when you need volume at 1080p or below, and to Kling 2.6 only for voice control. Keep an eye on Kling 4.0, because if the leak is accurate it will be the first Kling model to go past 15 seconds in one request. Until then, the 3.0 family covers every job, and choosing the right Kling model is mostly about which inputs you have.
