Free Suno Alternatives: Open-Source Song Models and Cheaper APIs
Free Suno alternatives compared: what Suno's free plan leaves out, Google Flow Music, open-source ACE-Step 1.5 and YuE2, and song APIs from $0.06 per track.

Suno itself is free to start, which is why people looking for a free Suno alternative usually want something its free plan does not give them. Suno's Free plan includes 50 credits a day and its free v6-mini model, but no monthly song downloads and no commercial rights.[1] The alternatives that solve those limits fall into three groups: free hosted apps, open-source models you run yourself, and pay-per-song APIs that cost a few cents per track.
This guide compares them using each project's own pages, checked on November 4, 2026.
What Suno's free plan includes
| Plan | Monthly price | Credits | Downloads | Commercial rights | Models |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 50 per day | None monthly | No | v6-mini |
| Pro | $10 ($8 billed annually) | 2,500 per month | 20 per month | Yes | v6 and v6-wild |
| Premier | $30 ($24 billed annually) | 10,000 per month | Extra downloads purchasable | Yes | v6 and v6-wild |

Free Suno alternatives
Google Flow Music. The former Producer AI, now run by Google Labs, describes itself as "free to start" with no credit card and daily credits, and creates full songs with vocals on Google's Lyria 3.5 model. Google says it does not claim ownership of original content generated with Flow Music.[2][3] Our Producer AI guide covers the change in detail.
ACE-Step 1.5. An MIT-licensed open-source music model that its authors say runs locally "with less than 4GB of VRAM" and generates a full song in under 10 seconds on an RTX 3090. It supports songs from 10 seconds to 10 minutes, lyrics in more than 50 languages, cover generation, repainting, and training a LoRA from a few songs to capture a style.[4]
YuE2. An Apache-2.0 project that takes lyrics and a style prompt, writes a melody-and-chord plan, and then produces a complete song with vocals and accompaniment. It also supports zero-shot covers and editing a song through conversation.[5]
Both open-source projects compare themselves with Suno. ACE-Step places its quality "between Suno v4.5 and Suno v5", and YuE2 says it is "competitive with Suno v5/v6" on its WildSongBench evaluation.[4][5] These are the projects' own claims on their chosen tests, not independent results, so listen before you rely on them.
Running ACE-Step on your own computer
ACE-Step 1.5 is the lightest of the free options: its standard model fits in under 4 GB of VRAM. For higher audio quality, its authors released XL variants in April 2026 with a 4-billion-parameter decoder, and those need at least 12 GB with offloading, with 20 GB recommended. Mac, AMD, Intel and CUDA devices are all listed as supported.[4][4]
Running locally removes per-song costs and keeps your lyrics on your own machine. The trade is setup time and the hardware you already own.
Song generation by API
For apps that generate music on demand, per-song APIs avoid both subscriptions and GPUs:
| Option | What you get | Published price |
|---|---|---|
| Mureka V9 on reAPI | Lyrics up to 3,000 characters into a produced song; 1 to 3 songs per request | $0.060 for 1 song, $0.099 for 2, $0.149 for 3 |
| Suno V6 on reAPI | Two takes per request, written or supplied lyrics, plus extend, cover and stem tools | $0.066 per request (2 tracks) |
| Google Lyria 3.5 (Gemini API) | Full-length song generation | $0.08 per song |
Sources: reAPI model pages and Google's Gemini API pricing.[6][7]
Per finished track, the order changes. Because Suno V6 returns two takes per request, 1,000 tracks need 500 requests, or $33. The same 1,000 tracks cost $60 on Mureka V9 at one song per request, about $49.67 if you request three at a time, and $80 on Lyria 3.5. These are list-price arithmetic; if you discard most takes, count the cost per song you keep, not per song generated. Suno V6 through reAPI is Suno's own model billed per request rather than per subscription, which suits apps that generate irregularly. Mureka V9 is a different model family, which makes it a true alternative if you want a second sound.
Comparing quality fairly
Model comparisons online usually use different prompts, which makes them hard to trust. Fix the variables instead: the same lyrics, the same genre description and the same length for every option. Listen for whether the vocals are intelligible, whether the song follows your verse and chorus structure, and how often a second attempt is needed. A model that needs three tries per usable song costs three times its list price.
Commercial use
Licensing is often the real reason to switch. Suno's Free plan excludes commercial rights; its paid plans include them, subject to its terms.[1] The open-source projects publish their code under MIT and Apache-2.0; check the license on each model's weights as well before releasing songs commercially. For APIs, read the provider's terms for generated output.
FAQ
Is there a free Suno alternative with commercial rights?
Open-source models such as ACE-Step 1.5 (MIT) and YuE2 (Apache-2.0) are free to run; confirm the license of the specific weights you download.[4][5] Google says it does not claim ownership of Flow Music output.[3]
Can I run a Suno-like model on my PC?
Yes. ACE-Step 1.5 is designed to run in under 4 GB of VRAM.[4]
What is the cheapest song generation API?
Per track at list prices, Suno V6 on reAPI, because each $0.066 request returns two songs, which works out to $0.033 each. Mureka V9 is about $0.050 per song when you request three at once.[6]
Is Suno free?
Its Free plan gives 50 credits a day on the v6-mini model, without monthly downloads or commercial rights.[1]
Choosing a Suno alternative
For casual use, Google Flow Music or Suno's own free plan cost nothing. To own the pipeline and avoid per-song fees, run ACE-Step 1.5 or YuE2 locally. For an app, a per-song API is simplest: reAPI serves Mureka V9 and Suno V6 on one key. Pick the Suno alternative that matches whether you need downloads, commercial rights or code.
