Kling 4.0 Flash API: Is It Out Yet, and What to Use Now

Kling 4.0 Flash is in early access, but is there a Kling 4.0 Flash API? What Kling's API docs, price sheets, and changelog show, and what to build on today.

There is no public Kling 4.0 Flash API yet. Kling 4.0 Flash opened to a limited early-access group inside Kling's own app on September 28, 2026[1], and Kling's announcement names Ultra Yearly subscribers as the people who got it[2]. As of October 1, 2026, nothing in Kling's developer documentation lists a 4.0 model: not the API changelog, not the capability map, and not the API price sheets[3][4][5].

Search interest moved faster than the docs. In the week after the announcement, "kling 4.0 api" started showing up as a search suggestion, along with "free", "download", and "tutorial" variants. This article checks each developer-facing source Kling runs, explains what the Kling 4.0 Flash API will and will not tell you about the model, and shows what to build on until it ships.

TL;DR

  • Kling 4.0 Flash is live only in Kling's creator app, for a limited early-access group, since September 28, 2026[1].
  • Kling's API changelog has no 4.0 entry. The latest item is dated September 15, 2026 and covers Virtual Try-On 3.0[3].
  • Kling's own prepaid API packages say it plainly: "These plans currently don't support Kling 4.0."[6]
  • The official Flash spec sheet lists text-to-video, image-to-video from a first frame, Omni Reference, 3–20 second clips, and 720p in 8-bit SDR[1].
  • The full Kling 4.0 is scheduled for October 2026. Kling has not named a day, and has not said whether the API opens at the same time[1][2].

Where the Kling 4.0 Flash API stands on October 1

I checked Kling's announcement and the four developer pages where a new API model would appear. None of them has a Kling 4.0 Flash API yet.

Kling sourceWhat it shows on October 1, 2026Lists Kling 4.0 or Flash?
Release note "Meet All-New Kling 4.0!"Flash in early access since September 28; full 4.0 "will officially launch in October"[1]Yes, app only
@Kling_ai on X, September 28"Kling 4.0 Flash is live now for Ultra Yearly subscribers"[2]Yes, app only
API changelogNewest entry September 15, Virtual Try-On 3.0[3]No
API capability map (video)Newest columns are Kling 3.0 Turbo, Kling 3.0, and Kling 3.0 Omni[4]No

Prepaid API packages"These plans currently don't support Kling 4.0."[6]Explicitly no

The changelog is the one to watch. It is more detailed than the release notes and is where Kling announces API-level launches, so a Kling 4.0 Flash API is most likely to show up there first. The prepaid-package line is the most telling of the six. Kling wrote "4.0" into its developer pricing page specifically to say the plans do not cover it yet.

What Kling 4.0 Flash can do

The API will expose whatever the model supports, so the official spec sheet is the best preview of the Kling 4.0 Flash API surface. Kling published one table for Flash and a longer one for the full Kling 4.0[1].

CapabilityKling 4.0 FlashFull Kling 4.0
Text-to-videoYesYes
Image-to-videoFirst frameFirst and last frames, up to 10 keyframes
Omni ReferenceYesYes, up to 15 references
Duration3–20 seconds3–30 seconds
Resolution720p720p, 1080p, 4K
Dynamic range8-bit SDR10-bit HDR at 1080p and 4K

Read the gaps carefully. The Flash table does not list keyframes, a last frame, aspect ratios, or audio, so a Kling 4.0 Flash API will probably not take parameters for them either. Early testers confirm the frame part. Flash has a start frame and nothing else[7][8].

Compared with the current fast tier, Flash adds five seconds and Omni Reference, and gives up 1080p. Kling 3.0 Turbo does 3–15 seconds at 720p or 1080p from text or a first frame[4].

What the Kling 4.0 Flash API will not tell you yet

Three things are unknown, and nothing official hints at them.

The model id. Kling's API names models with ids like kling-3.0-turbo and kling-v3[4]. The Flash id will be whatever Kling publishes; any id you see on a third-party site today is a guess.

The price. Kling prices its video API per second, by resolution[5]. There is no Kling 4.0 Flash row. In the app, Kling positions Flash as the tier that "combines fast generation with excellent value"[1], which suggests it will sit below the full model. That is a positioning statement, not a rate.

The date. Kling says the full Kling 4.0 launches in October and has not given a day[1]. Kling has also not said whether the API opens on the same day as the app.

Free, download, and GitHub: what the searches are really asking

The search suggestions around the Kling 4.0 Flash API cluster around three words. Each has a short answer.

Free. There is no free Kling 4.0 Flash API. In the app, Flash early access comes with a paid Ultra Yearly membership[2], and Kling's developer API is sold as prepaid units[6]. On reAPI it will be pay-as-you-go, billed per second of output, once the model can be called.

Download. Kling 4.0 Flash is a hosted model. You use it through Kling's app or website, or later through an API. There is no official file to download and run locally. Anything calling itself a Kling 4.0 Flash download or APK did not come from Kuaishou.

GitHub and SDKs. Kling's developer docs list no Kling 4.0 Flash endpoint, so there is nothing for an official SDK to call yet[3][4]. A repository that promises Kling 4.0 Flash API access today is not using Kling's own API.

How to build for the Kling 4.0 Flash API today

The practical move is to build on the closest live model and keep the switch small. Kling 3.0 Turbo is the fast tier of the current generation, and the job it does is the job Flash will do.

On reAPI, Kling 3.0 Turbo runs on POST /api/v1/videos/generations with prompt, an optional first_frame_image, resolution (720p or 1080p), duration (3–15), and aspect_ratio[10]. A minimal request:

curl -X POST https://reapi.ai/api/v1/videos/generations \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "kling-3-0-turbo",
    "prompt": "A clay lighthouse keeper climbs a spiral staircase at night",
    "duration": 5,
    "resolution": "720p"
  }'

The response is a task id you poll until the video URL is ready. When Kling opens the Kling 4.0 Flash API, reAPI adds it as kling-4-0-flash on the same endpoint[9]. Moving over means changing the model id and adapting to whatever parameters Kling ships. Expect duration to go up to 20 and a way to pass Omni Reference inputs.

Two things to avoid in the meantime. Don't hard-code 1080p into a pipeline you plan to point at Flash, because the Flash spec lists 720p only[1]. And don't build around a last frame or keyframes on Flash; those belong to the full Kling 4.0.

FAQ

Is there a Kling 4.0 Flash API?

Not yet. As of October 1, 2026, Kling's API changelog, capability map, and API price sheets list no Kling 4.0 or Kling 4.0 Flash model[3][4][5]. Kling 4.0 Flash runs only in Kling's creator app for early-access users.

When will the Kling 4.0 Flash API be released?

Kling has not announced a date. The full Kling 4.0 is scheduled for October 2026[1]. The first sign of an API will most likely be a new entry in Kling's API changelog[3].

Who can use Kling 4.0 Flash right now?

A limited early-access group in Kling's app. Kling's post on X names Ultra Yearly subscribers[2].

Does my Kling API package cover Kling 4.0?

No. Kling's developer pricing page states that its prepaid plans "currently don't support Kling 4.0"[6].

What resolution and length will the Kling 4.0 Flash API support?

The official Flash spec lists 3–20 second clips at 720p in 8-bit SDR[1]. 1080p, 4K, 10-bit HDR, and 30-second clips are listed for the full Kling 4.0 only.

Is the Kling 4.0 Flash API free?

No. Kling sells API access as prepaid units[6], and app access to Flash comes with a paid membership[2]. On reAPI it will be pay-as-you-go per second, with no subscription.

What should I use until then?

Kling 3.0 Turbo for fast text-to-video and image-to-video at 720p or 1080p, or Kling 3.0 for multi-shot, native audio, and 4K. Both are callable today[4].

Waiting on the Kling 4.0 Flash API

Kling 4.0 Flash exists, people are using it, and Kling has published its specs. What is missing is the developer side: no changelog entry, no capability-map column, no price row, and a pricing page that says outright its plans don't cover 4.0. Build on Kling 3.0 Turbo now, keep your model id configurable, and watch Kling's API changelog. I'll update this page when the Kling 4.0 Flash API appears there, and the Kling 4.0 Flash page on reAPI switches to live the same day.
